Business Central Abbreviation
More and more customers think about or have already upgraded to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Therefore, this name often comes up during communication or in documentation. As for the official full name, Microsoft has been rather clear: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
In our opinion, in informal cases, Business Central or simply BC is acceptable, but it’s definitely not suitable for most scenarios.
By the way, do not confuse Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or just Dynamics 365, which is a product line of ERP and CRM applications, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is just one of the applications.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a rather long name for a product. But what if you need to use an abbreviated name? Here the situation becomes rather vague, because there seems to be no official guidelines regarding how to abbreviate Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. As a result, you may come across an abundance of variants, including D365BC, Dynamics 365 BC, Microsoft D365BC, and what not, especially on partner sites.
However, if you investigate what Microsoft use themselves on official sites and public sources, the following variants seems to be used more of the times:
MSDYN365BC (or MSDyn365BC)
This abbreviation is, for example, used on the official Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central twitter page or as a hashtag on the official Microsoft Dynamics 365 blog:
Therefore, we at Xpand have agreed to stick to the MSDYN365BC variant and urge our partners to follow until official guidelines emerge.
